The building is a semi-detached Victorian house, used as a single-family dwelling, located within the St. John’s Wood Conservation Area. The design proposals include a 200sqm basement extension to provide the required additional space for services, utility, storage, leisure (cinema room, pool and SPA) and gym facilities. This will allow the upper levels of the historic house to be freed from any potential strain to the property, which could otherwise be created by these functions. In addition, the design includes a single storey rear extension, alterations to the fenestration of the rear and side elevations, addition of skylights to the principal roof, and alterations and re-landscaping to the front and rear gardens.
